About NMCSAP

The New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs (NMCSAP) is a statewide coalition dedicated to strengthening New Mexico’s response to sexual violence. We work alongside advocates, service providers, healthcare professionals, educators, policymakers, Tribal partners, and communities to advance survivor-centered services, prevent sexual violence, and create lasting systems change.

As a coalition, our role is to support and strengthen the organizations and professionals working directly in communities. Through training, technical assistance, prevention, advocacy, data, and statewide collaboration, we help build a more equitable, accessible, and effective response for survivors across New Mexico.

Our mission, vision, and values guide every aspect of our work and reflect our commitment to creating a New Mexico where survivors are supported, communities are empowered, and sexual violence is eliminated.

Mission

The New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs builds statewide systems of prevention, response, and systems-level change to address the impact of sexual violence and its intersections with other forms of harm. We provide infrastructure, resources, policy, and coordination to programs and advocates across New Mexico so survivors and those who serve them have what they need.

Vision

We envision a violence free New Mexico:

Where all individuals and communities have the resources they need to prevent, respond to, and heal from sexual violence.
Where all policies and systems are transformed to support survivors, prioritize prevention, create practices for accountability, and center community led solutions to sexual violence.
Where all people see themselves as part of preventing violence and building safer communities across New Mexico.

NMCSAP Core Values

Survivor Led, Survivor Centered

Survivors are the experts and have the solution to how we build a world free of violence. NMCSAP’s work is informed by survivors’ leadership and experiences. Survivors’ needs, safety, and visions for a future are paramount in all aspects of our organizational work.

Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppression Foundation

NMCSAP recognizes that sexual violence and all forms of oppression are intricately linked. In order to effectively respond to sexual violence, we must uplift the leadership of communities most impacted and work to dismantle the root causes of oppression. Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression are at the foundation of both our internal and external work.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

We honor that each person and community is an expert on their own experiences and that ending sexual violence requires everyone. NMCSAP is committed to creating a culture of collaboration with the diverse communities, individuals, agencies, and stakeholders across New Mexico.

Prevention

Sexual violence is preventable. NMCSAP prioritizes prevention in its many forms including through education, investment, policy, strengthening protective factors, and uplifting the solutions that already exist in communities.

NMCSAP strives to ensure that all organizational policies and practices reflect transparency, responsibility, and integrity.

Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusivity

Survivors and their experiences are not a monolith and so the solutions can’t be either. We strive to approach every situation with accessibility, curiosity, and a willingness to listen and grow.
